Vision of America’s Coming Revival

It’s now 2023, and there has been rapid advancement of a far-left political agenda that has unsettled many Christians. And rightly so! But where should we anchor our hopes? A President? A political party? Culture? Numerous “prophetic” voices have collectively asserted that America shall rise above its political differences, reunite, reclaim its destiny, and excel as that “shining city seated upon a hill.” Is this truly what Christians can expect? Can a political leader, a political party, or a rehabilitated culture save our great country? What is the future for America in these “last days”?

On September 30, 2014, during an intense time of prayer, the Holy Spirit gave me a vision of a coming revival in America. As the vision unfolded, I saw what represented America’s Second Great Awakening (Approx. 1790s—1830s). This was a revival that had catapulted from local churches and into the American culture. It so impacted government policies that it eventually brought the abolition of slavery, the cessation of child labor, and prison reform. This is likely the greatest spiritual outpouring of America’s history. However, as this vision unfolded, the Lord showed me that the unique attributes of the Second Great Awakening will not recur in America’s upcoming spiritual awakening.
“Unlike, but Greater Than”
While I don’t foresee America experiencing another revival that transforms our culture, politics, and social agenda I most definitely foresee America experiencing a wondrous, even unprecedented, revival! I see it sweeping from coast-to-coast, and surpassing the Second Great Awakening! In other words, America’s coming revival will be “unlike, but greater than.” Let me explain what I mean by that statement and show you how it’s possible:
The coming revival destined for America will be mighty and transformative upon America’s church. But while the glory of the Spirit will be visible for all to see, America itself will remain un-changed. This mighty move of God will be rejected by government and culture even though the church burns brightly with the glory of God!
Perhaps the essence of that prophecy startles you. It should! Nobody wants to admit America’s finest days are over. American Christians want to know there is a wonderful future prepared for their country. But let me explain what makes this prophetic word interesting: Although America’s coming revival will be unlike America’s Second Great Awakening, I am convinced that it will eclipse it! Thus, it will be “Unlike, but Greater Than”! But how is this possible? Is there a Biblical precedent for what I am suggesting? Yes!
The revival God has prepared for this country will resemble much of what the First Century revival looked like in the book of Acts. Two thousand years ago, the outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon New Testament Believers brought an unrivaled move of God. Yet despite the preponderance of converts to Christianity and the healings and miracles that occurred the Roman government and the Jewish hierarchy stood defiantly against this move of the Spirit.
Christians were marginalized, imprisoned, persecuted, and burned at the stake. Even while the flames of revival grew brightly, the world system fervently fought this revival. It was during this time that Rome invaded the Holy Land, burned Jerusalem, destroyed the Temple, and crushed the Jewish nation. The Jews scrambled to flee for their lives! It was a time that historians named, “The Diaspora.”
So yes, there is a sacred, spiritual precedent for the prophecy I am sharing. It is evident that a mighty outpouring of the Holy Spirit can sweep over the Church while government and culture reject its blessing. But while the American culture may ignore, reject, or even fight this coming move of God, nothing can prevent its outbreak! The day is coming when America’s church will experience its finest hour. And this move of God will help Christians triumph as they march through the last days anticipating Christ’s Return.
